What is Garlock Style G-200
Garlock Style G-200 is a high-performance braided graphite packing used for sealing around rotating or reciprocating shafts (like pump shafts, mixers, agitators, and valves) in industrial equipment. It’s commonly called compression packing, gland packing, or shaft packing.
Key Features
- Made from graphite fiber with a graphite dispersion lubricant for low friction.
- Lattice braid construction for strength and sealing performance.
- High temperature tolerance — up to about 850°F (455°C) in normal atmosphere and 1200°F (650°C) with steam.
- Wide chemical compatibility — pH range ~0–14 (except strong oxidizers).
- Good resistance to aggressive environments and shaft wear.
Applications
Used mainly in industrial sealing setups such as:
✔ Pumps
✔ Agitators & mixers
✔ Filters & crystallizers
✔ Shaft glands in valves
✔ Slip-type expansion joints
✔ Reciprocating pump rods
✔ Continuous digesters and slurry services
