Gland Packing Graphite Wire
The function of packing is to control leakage, not to prevent it from leaking out
leaks, because the packing must always be lubricated and leaks are recommended to maintain
presence of lubrication is about 40 to 60 drops per minute. Lubrication method on packing
depending on the condition of the pumped liquid and also the pressure in the stuffing box.
When the stuffing box pressure is above atmospheric pressure and the liquid being pressed is clean and not corrosive. This insulation is Gland packing or Compression packing or packing created as
sealing device (blocking device) is shown in Figure 3 b, but because it must drip,
then it is more appropriate to call it a restrictional device.
Gland Packing is usually made with a braided or woven system with a box cross section shape and the constituent materials can be graphite, acrylic, PTFE, asbestos and so on, the fluid in the pump functions as a gasket lubricant.
