Teadit 25 BI
is a multi-directionally expanded gasket tape manufactured from 100% pure PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene).
This product is designed for pressure-sensitive sealing applications and narrow sealing areas, thanks to its excellent conformability and its ability to compensate for irregular flange surfaces.
Key Characteristics
- Material: Made from 100% pure, multi-directionally expanded PTFE.
- Chemical Resistance: Chemically inert to almost all substances across a pH range of 0–14, including the most aggressive acids and alkalis. Exceptions include molten alkali metals and elemental fluorine at high temperatures and pressures.
- Temperature Resistance: Operational temperature range from –268 °C to +260 °C, with short-term resistance up to +315 °C.
- Pressure Resistance: Suitable for applications ranging from vacuum up to 40 bar (≈ 580 psi), and up to approximately 200 bar under specific conditions (according to other sources).
- Unique Property: A special manufacturing process provides nearly equal tensile strength in both longitudinal and transverse directions, meaning the material does not spread laterally under compression.
- Approvals: Certified according to FDA and EC 1935/2004 (including the adhesive), TA-Luft, and WRAS, making it suitable for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical applications.
Application Areas
Teadit 25 BI is especially suitable for pressure-sensitive joints and narrow sealing areas, including:
- Glass-lined and enamel-coated flanges: Highly conformable, ideal for fragile or uneven flange surfaces.
- Heat exchangers
- Large flanges and vessels: Reduces the risk of incorrect gasket material selection due to its versatility.
- Pressure vessels
- Suction filters and strainers
Advantages
- Fast and Simple Installation: No complex cutting or bolt-hole punching required.
- Easy Removal: Used gaskets can be removed easily without leaving residue on sealing surfaces.
- Non-Aging Material: Does not age and can be stored indefinitely (the adhesive tape has a limited shelf life).
- Compensates Surface Damage: Excellent formability often eliminates the need to repair minor flange surface damage.
